Director of Professional Practice Mr Stewart Whitley reports on the launch of the ‘ISRRT Safety Culture and General Safety Management Guide for Diagnostic and Radiation Therapy Departments’
New – Launch of ‘ISRRT Safety Culture and General Safety Management Guide for Diagnostic and Radiation Therapy Departments’
The 17th of September is a special day in the World Health Organisation’s calendar. This is declared as ‘World Patient Safety Day’.
2021 was no exception and ISRRT celebrated this on the 16th of September by running a special webinar with the theme ‘Safe maternal and newborn care’.
ISRRT took the opportunity at this webinar to launch and publish its new guide ‘ISRRT Safety Culture and General Safety Management Guide for Diagnostic and Radiation Therapy Departments’.
This guide has a major focus on patient safety but also provides a comprehensive guide on safety and safety culture on all aspects of running a diagnostic and radiotherapy department.
The guide has been written by a team of experts and helps the reader to answer the question ‘Is my department safe?’
It is aimed for the benefit of all personnel working in Imaging and Radiation Therapy Departments as each person has a responsibility to ensure the safety of themselves, patients and colleagues as well as contributing actively to promotion and maintenance of a responsive safety culture.
The guide can be found at ISRRT Safety Culture and General Safety Guide | ISRRT
