The TURKISH SOCIETY OF MEDICAL RADIOLOGICAL TECHNOLOGISTS (TSMRT) was founded in 1955. TSMRT has 920 members representing radiographers from radiotherapy, nuclear medicine and general diagnostic radiography at the national level.
The aim of TMSRT is to promote the profession and improve the practical stsndards of radiographers in Turkey. TSMRT has been a respected professional organisation and has acted in an advisory capacity to governmental and non-governmental bodies since 1995. Since 1998 TMSRT has had the right to use its national name officially.
TMSRT organises the National Radiotechnology Congress every two years. It also prepares short courses to teach radiographers new developments in radiology technology. This service is given voluntarily by the members of the directors of the society especially in small peropheral cities.
There are more than 10,000 radiographers in Turkey and TSMRT is gaining greater experience in organisational processes. The standardisation of the profession and recognised steps in development are the vision of the Tyrkish Society.
TSMRT has seven objectives in different fields of work:
education, radiation protection, co-operation with institutions, financial, international bodies co-ordination, social organisations and regulatory works.
