‘This beats being in school!’

6/17/2007

The exhibition which runs alongside the United Kingdom Radiology Congress (UKRC) is not just a commercial opportunity for industry as Siemens proved when they invited pupils from Whalley Range High School for Girls, Manchester, to visit the company’s stand to find out about diagnostic and therapeutic radiography, as well as careers in the profession.

Supporting the Siemens’ specialists were Andrea Owen from University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust, and Catherine Williams and Cath Gordon, both lecturers in the health sciences school at the University of Liverpool. Christina Freeman, SCoR professional officer, answered questions from the GCSE students about what radiographers do and how to qualify.
“We were delighted to get the school involved in UKRC and give the youngsters the chance to find out about radiography from the professionals,” said Chris Wright, marketing and communications manager for Siemens Medical Solutions.
