ECR Vienna-

Due to the generous support of WHO I was able to attend the ECR in Vienna which followed immediately after the WHO Geneva Meeting.

Kata and Bodil also attended in their capacities of ECR Sub Committee members and ISRRT supported the attendance of Dimitris Katsifarakis the European Regional Professional Practice Representative at Bodil's request.

Stefano Braico Regional PR representative was also present.

Together with Sandy Yule, Kata, Bodil, Dimitris and I were able to meet with EFRS, and discussed ways in which both groups can work together ensuring that EFRS is involved with any European based projects we may initiate and likewise from International aspects of any European issues. We were able to involve them immediately with an IAEA project in Lithuania which Bodil will coordinate including EFRS. We have also undertaken to be one of the co-sponsors of an International Radiation Protection Meeting in Bulgaria in September - Dimitris will be our co-ordinator on this as it overlaps our Board/Council meetings in Australia - he met with the convenor and Dr Madan Rehani on our behalf on this Conference.

There was also a very useful meeting with the ESR in combination with EFRS. The ESR reiterated their desire for ISRRT to be involved in the ECR congress in the future. This co-operation reinforces their focus on furthering the international element of that Congress.

Menu the current Program Director of the ECR and the next President was especially rewarding - Bodil is the next Chairperson of the Technologists program and Dr Menu is keen to increase the role and focus on technologists.

We all met with Madan Rehani of IAEA as well which was very beneficial.

Due to a meeting overlap I alone attended the IRQN meeting which discussed the WHO consultancy and endorsed the plans to involve both WHO and IAEA in the Referral Guidelines consultancy. The input of all at the meetings was very valuable as was the presence of several familiar faces at our booth and the social contacts made and renewed.

Sandy and I were also able to meet up with Philip Haldar from GE - one of our best corporate supporters.

In closing, very special thanks to Alison Yule for "minding the store" while we all headed off to the various meetings.
